Installing EV Charging In Industrial Sites
Industrial Portfolio Rollout
Lafarge is Canada’s largest provider of sustainable and innovative building solutions including aggregates, ready mix, cement, and precast concrete.
Lafarge West selected LAE to provide complete management of its EV charging stations rollout across its Canada West Portfolio. This includes hardware and network specification, project management, procurement, and installation of 100 chargers.
Project Objective
Meet Net-Zero Targets and Convert to Electric Fleet
Lafarge Canada has a Net Zero initiative targeted for 2030 and as part of decarbonizing its business is offering EV charging to employees as they convert their internal fleets to EV and encourage EV adoption with residential incentives.
Challenges
A challenge with retrofitting large commercial industrial sites is to make sure there is enough power available near a desired parking lot for EV Charging with a futureproofed solution.
Process
LAE provides detailed feasibility site survey reports to assess the power and recommendations for the best solutions at every site to determine what is needed today and long term for Lafarge’s growing EV fleets.
Results
LAE’s installed Lafarge Canada’s first EV charging stations in 2022 at its Kent Ave Ready Mix plant in Vancouver, Canada.
Project Insights
By early 2023, LAE has installed 20 operational chargers across BC and Alberta with infrastructure in place to add chargers with increased adoption.
