Maxime
Meet Our Founder and President
Maxime is the founder and president of LeadingAhead Energy. In a constantly changing and vastly unregulated industry, Maxime sought to help Canadian businesses and property owners install EV infrastructure that is future-proof and sustainable. He is also a recipient of the 2022 Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 award.
As an early EV driver himself, Max understood the importance and the impact that reliable infrastructure would have on the roll-out of EVs across the country. LeadingAhead Energy has now installed over 500 charging sites across Canada and the United States, from which Max has helped develop the industry standards for EV charging. He has also focused on underrepresented areas and customers, designing the first handicap-accessible fast-charging site in Squamish, BC, as well as working with First Nations communities in Northern BC to help bridge the gap in electrifying the corridor between BC and Yukon.
Max has spoken at many industry conferences, including Electric Mobility Canada, Energy Disruptors, Electric Autonomy Canada, and Fully Charged. His key achievement is the adoption of the Open Charge Point Protocol, which prevents EV charging infrastructure from becoming obsolete, allowing station owners to have a choice over which network and software are provided on their stations.
Maxime is also currently advocating for responsible ownership and allocation of carbon credits, protecting the interests of landowners and developers. Max has successfully grown LAE on his own, without outside investment, and is now expanding further into the US market. In addition, Max is also expanding LAE beyond the Real Estate EV market, working with Harbour Air to install the first charging stations for electrified seaplanes in North America.
